Support Williams Syndrome Association (@theWSA) with @EchelonDonates & @NoDevotionFans

Echelon Donates is proud to partner with No Devotion Fans to support the Williams Syndrome Association (WSA) in honor of Archie Oliver, son of No Devotion band member Jamie Oliver. Also know in the art world as Richard J. Oliver, Jamie and his effervescent wife have two beautiful boys Sam and Archie. Last year, their youngest son Archie was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome.

Let’s raise awareness and funds for this lesser known condition in honor of Archie!

“Williams syndrome (WS) is a genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone.  It is characterized by medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning disabilities.  These often occur side by side with striking verbal abilities, highly social personalities and an affinity for music.” – williams-syndrome.org

About Choosing WSA:

We have chosen to support Williams Syndrome Association but this was not a clear and easy choice. In our four year history at Echelon Donates, we seek to educate about determining the financial soundness of a charity. We always use Charity Navigator as part of our research but Charity Star is the only charity watchdog that has a rating for any Williams Syndrome group. We had to scrub the internet to find a copy of their 2013 990 tax returns to break down their finances manually.

To learn how to do research like this on your own, check out this article by ProPublica. We also recommend visiting Give.org by the Better Business Bureau along with googling reviews on other reputable websites.

Sugar’s Nepal Experience

Below is a small excerpt from Sugar’s recent visit to Kathmandu, Nepal eight weeks prior to the earthquake. To read her full encounter click here.

After getting a little lost, we pulled up outside a building and as I looked through the metal gates, I saw a group of children all running up with their hands together shouting “Namaste” (Nepal’s way of greeting someone, much like ‘Hello’ in English). I was instantly overwhelmed at all these happy little faces greeting us, smiling and waving as we got out of the cab.

Support Adrenal Cancer Research with @SpencerBell Tribute Album II

“I’m honestly not sure where this life is going
And I just as honestly do not care
So long as I can love
And be loved
So long as I can inspire
And be inspired
So long as the sun keeps sliding through the sky,
And the rain still falls on occasion,
I’m sure that whatever supremely awaits me
Shall come
And when finality brings itself to me
I will not run and vainly avoid the inevitable
I will cast my arms out and blindly
Embrace my end
Just as I have always embraced whatever
Has come with the wind”

-Spencer Bell

Spencer Bell was a poet, musician, and artist who passed away from adrenal cancer in 2006. His loved ones and supporters are keeping his artistic legacy alive and fundraising for adrenal caner research.

Support the second (and final) memorial album. All contributions go to adrenal cancer research.

Thank you @daikou, who is designing the album, for bringing this inspiring project to our attention.

The @NYC_Echelon Street Team to Promote Love Lust Faith + Dreams during Earth Day #ED4ED

Besides managing Echelon Donates I’m also a busy little Echelon who’s one of the Street Team Captains for the NYC Echelon. Our first Street Team assault in July 2011 had us on a billboard in Time Square where the team won the Night Of The Hunter contest! We also responsibly papered the streets of New York promoting the Mars300 concert series in November 2011. Now Mars has a new album out so strap on your chucks or low heeled boots and we’ll be walk the streets to get the word out about Love Lust Faith + Dreams!

I asked @PulangMansanas who’s a member of Echelon Donates to whip something up for the NYC Echelon Street Team to use & she made these BAD ASS FLYERS!?!?!?

Claudia was so awesome to make flyers for the US, UK AND Australia release dates! She’s allowing everyone to use her creations so make sure to send her some love & thanks!

During the two Earth Day Events in NYC on Saturday, April 20, 2013 & on Saturday, April 27, 2013, we will also be hosting a Street Team assault getting the word out that Thirty Seconds To Mars has a new album! Email us at EchelonDonates@gmail.com if you’re interested in volunteering for either Earth Day event along with the street assault. BRING THE ENTIRE FAMILY!

A great idea for the flyers is why not print them on plantable seeded paper!?!?! It’s a great eco choice & a way to help promote Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2013. *hint hint*

So who’s going to host their own Earth Day / LLFD street assault? Let us know & we’ll help promote it!
