Echelon For Climate Change

Echelon For Climate Change Promo Banner

Jared Leto is many things; singer, actor, director, producer, fashion icon, the guy who fooled everyone at NYCC in a Rafiki costume but he’s also a humanitarian & has great passion for the environment.

Recently, Thirty Seconds To Mars played their last show of their LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS tour in Athens, Greece. The band delivered as always but what made the show truly special was Jared Leto’s urge to stress something greater. Please read the transcript from the concert on September 30th:

JARED LETO:

“Does anybody know what’s going on in Paris?

[Leaders from over 190 countries] are having a big meeting, this December. They’re gonna come together in Paris and try to make a global agreement to address climate change. I know we’re at a concert but I thought it’d be really cool to do this with all of you rather than just do it myself. I’m gonna talk to the camera and they’re going to show this, in Paris, to everyone.

(Jared looking at the camera)

Hey, it’s Jared Leto. Tonight, we join together with Al Gore & the Climate Reality Project in one of the most important issues of our time. This December, leaders from over 190 countries will come to Paris to form a global agreement to address climate change. Join us in demanding our leaders take action, stand with us & make your voice heard so we can preserve this planet for our future generations (wouldn’t that be nice?).

Climate change is one of the most important issues of our time and our world leaders need to hear from us. So, visit 24hoursofreality.com and sign the petition demanding action on climate change now. Let’s do a better job at taking care of this planet.”

(Jared turns the camera to the entire crowd to show he’s not alone in this fight)

Watch the entire speech here.

The Echelon, Thirty Seconds To Mars’ fanbase, is no stranger to environmental causes. We, together, joined forces & managed to plant over 70,000 trees in Haiti. We have great power and the band loves & appreciates that.

As part of the Echelon but most importantly as habitat of this planet, it is our duty to fight for a better planet. A healthier planet. A stronger planet. We’re asking you to join our #EchelonForClimateChange project by doing two things:

  • Sign the petition here and educate yourselves with the help of the Climate Reality Project website. After signing the petition, you should be redirected to a site where you’ll be prompted to share the petition via social media & email. So the second thing is…
  • Please spread the word about the petition & the Climate Reality Project to your social media pages.

For Twitter, we would like you to post this or something similar:

“I just took action by demanding world leaders to take climate action now. Will you join me?

Sign the petition at http://roadtoparis.climaterealityproject.org/english.php #EchelonForClimateChange”

or

“I’m challenging world leaders to take #ClimateAction now. Will you join me? http://bit.ly/1YFMsIp #EchelonForClimateChange”

For Facebook, you can post something lengthier (suggested by the official website):

“#EchelonForClimateChange: Climate change threatens our lives and livelihoods. As the world’s leaders prepare to gather for the UN climate negotiations in Paris this December, now is the moment for the world to speak as one. Achieving zero carbon emissions is the key to our collective prosperity and well-being for all. I’ve already taken action by demanding world leaders to take climate action now. Will you join me? Add your voice right now at http://roadtoparis.climaterealityproject.org/english.php

ALSO IF YOU WANT:

Make sure you include the hashtag (we want to create buzz) & if you want you can mention @JaredLeto too. He’d be more than happy to hear that all of you are making a difference thanks to him.

“Personally, I do have to thank him because without him (by making this issue public), I wouldn’t know about this global event. Me & my sister decided to actually travel to Paris for the December 11th event so we’re going to be there to make our voices loud. Thank you for this, Jared.” – Sophie

About Choosing WSA:

We have chosen to support Williams Syndrome Association but this was not a clear and easy choice. In our four year history at Echelon Donates, we seek to educate about determining the financial soundness of a charity. We always use Charity Navigator as part of our research but Charity Star is the only charity watchdog that has a rating for any Williams Syndrome group. We had to scrub the internet to find a copy of their 2013 990 tax returns to break down their finances manually.

To learn how to do research like this on your own, check out this article by ProPublica. We also recommend visiting Give.org by the Better Business Bureau along with googling reviews on other reputable websites.

ED-cancer-banner

Our Story

March 2012 was a hard month for myself and a friend of mine. Both of us just learned that our sisters were diagnosed with cancer. My friend’s sister, Jessica, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and my eldest sister was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Sadly, my eldest sister passed away that July once the cancer spread to her brain. Thankfully, Jessica is officially one year cancer-free!

Jessica 2013-10-25

This is Jessica October 2013. The day before the doctors performed a stem cell transplant after they obliterated her immune system in preparation. She listened to The Kill while she was going through chemotherapy. It helped her push through and fight the illness within.

Jessica 2015-06-14

This is Jessica today! She’s beautiful, vivacious, and full of life. It’s hard to not smile around her and be ready to laugh until you can’t breathe.

Sugar’s Nepal Experience

Below is a small excerpt from Sugar’s recent visit to Kathmandu, Nepal eight weeks prior to the earthquake. To read her full encounter click here.

After getting a little lost, we pulled up outside a building and as I looked through the metal gates, I saw a group of children all running up with their hands together shouting “Namaste” (Nepal’s way of greeting someone, much like ‘Hello’ in English). I was instantly overwhelmed at all these happy little faces greeting us, smiling and waving as we got out of the cab.

Clarifications about the EMA points & how they work via @30STMVOTE

#ECHELON– Spread the word:

We need to get moving! We are currently at the 3rd position which is not bad but it is not great. The elimination phase will start soon & only the top 5 will survive so we’re currently at the edge.TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS ABOUT THE POINTS:Right now the daily limit is 6 votes per day. YES, I know the rules say that 10 votes is the limit but this will be the case ONCE all of the actions are available. Check this out:

  • Watch a video
  • View a flipbook
  • Read an article
  • Take a poll (from 17 Sept)
  • Like/follow MTV EMA
  • Like/follow an artist (from 17 Sept)
  • Share/email a page
  • Refer someone to mtvema.com
  • Tag an artist (from 17 Sept)
  • Cast a vote (from 17 Sept)

10 actions = 10 votes. Right now, you can only do 6 actions out of 10, this is the reason that’s the daily limit so you don’t have to exhaust yourselves by trying to find imaginary points. You will not get them. Don’t waste hours at the site.

Actually, you can get those points every day in about 5 minutes. Seriously. Your daily routine at the EMA site should be:
-Watch a video. Actually you have to watch an entire video playlist, so I suggest you choose a playlist which contains ONE video like “Classic EMA performances” or some sort. Once you watch this = 1 point.

  • View a flipbook. This is a photo album for those having problems understanding what this is. Check ONE flipbook & check all the pictures until the end. 1 point.
  • Read an article. Go through the 3-4 articles of the EMA site just to make sure you get that point.
  • Unfollow/Unlike the EMA page & follow/like them again. (Oh well…we need that extra point, right?)
  • Share a page to Twitter/Facebook. You don’t have to e-mail it…Sharing is easier. I suggest you share the Biggest Fans page or the Thirty Seconds To Mars Team for obvious reasons. 1 point again!
  • Refer someone at the EMA site. Well that’s a tricky one & we can’t always get that point. At least not daily. If you go to your Team Page, you will see “Recruit Fans” under “My Team”. Click on the Twitter button & you’ll see that it will re-direct you to Twitter & it will provide a UNIQUE reference link that’s only for you. If you tweet this & someone JOINS our Team via YOUR link, you will get an extra point because you will have referred them to the EMA site successfully.

Anyway, at least 5 points daily is a MUST.

Yes, I know I’m currently first at the MARS Team but as I said, this didn’t happen because I’m smarter or because I have more free time in my hands. It happened because I looked around carefully and I was lucky enough to find out how this whole thing works. If you have a question, don’t hesitate to ask me but please READ THIS FIRST.

Spread the word about this post & let’s win this thing! Really…we won “Best Rock Video” at VMA, now 3rd place at EMA is ridiculous. Do this “ritual” every day & we’ll see a difference.

p.s. If you’re still having doubts about how this whole thing works, open a new tab with your points & refresh everytime you complete one of those actions above. You’ll see that once you do one of them, the extra point will appear just fine.

Now start gaining points!!
